Meet the Owner

My name is Lisa Marie George, and since 2015 I have been the Owner and Director of The Anne Brower School. The thing I most want you to know about me is that I am extremely passionate about working with and educating young children.

My entire career has focused on children's education and wellbeing. In addition to two teaching degrees, I have more than ten years of experience teaching children from Kindergarten to the 5th grade. I'm also the founder of "Believing in Little Miracles," part of the Fun Bus fleet that provides active play space and fitness instruction to children in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Please see the timeline below if you'd like to learn more about my background and family.

My dream has always been to run my own private school that children in the community and their families would be proud to attend.

When I heard The Anne Brower School was closing its doors after 37 years, I knew I had to act. I reached out to Anne, and we came up with a plan to save the school. I'm now running the school, and Anne continues to have input as a consultant while also enjoying a much-earned retirement.

In a recent email, Anne mentioned that keeping the school open was nothing short of a miracle, and that resonated deeply with me. Running this school has been a dream come true. It's confirmed my belief in little miracles, my passion to advocate for children, and my motivation to make sure that every child feels safe, has their unique talents recognized and nurtured, and develops an early, lifelong love of learning.

While staying true to the heart of The Anne Brower School, we now offer even more innovative, educational, and engaging programming. We've also renovated the campus facilities, upgraded the playground equipment, and beautified the grounds. I feel confident saying that we've created an idyllic learning environment for everyone to take pride in and enjoy.

I look forward to meeting with you, answering any questions you may have, and learning all about how I can best support the little miracle(s) in your family too.

Kind regards,

Lisa Marie George

“Miracles are of all sizes. And if you start believing in little miracles, you can work up to the bigger ones.”

Norman Vincent Peale

“It is a quiet multitude of little miracles that makes life sweet.”

Marjorie P. Hinckley

“As my mind can conceive of more good, the barriers and blocks dissolve. My life becomes full of little miracles popping up out of the blue.”

Louise Hay

“My daughter is absolutely in love with this school and so am I! The new owner Lisa Marie is one of the nicest people I have met in a long time, and [she] is so hands-on and involved in every aspect of the school. I was there when they first took over the school, and the amount of work they have done is amazing! The activities they have the children doing are wonderful and when I pick my daughter up she never wants to leave!”

Timeline

2001

Officially a Teacher!

I’ve known I wanted to work with children for as long as I can remember! When I went to Long Island University to earn my Bachelor’s degree, I studied Elementary Education and entered the adult world as a teacher.

2001

Back to Kindergarten

As soon as I finished school, I was incredibly happy to go right back to the beginning! I taught Kindergarten at The Happy Montessori School in Port Washington, New York, for the next 3 years.

2004

Master’s Degree

As a Kindergarten teacher I saw how inequality effected children’s ability to learn, even at such an early age. I especially wanted to help kids who got off to a late start as readers, so I went back to Long Island University and became a Literacy Specialist.

2004

Time to Teach Again!

After graduating, I got right back to teaching. I taught Kindergarten and the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th grades in the Port Washington School District. Teaching children of all different ages was as rewarding as it was fun—but it led me to the realization that the best use of my particular abilities was to help kids learn as early as possible!

2010

The Fun Bus Years

As much as I LOVED teaching, I also really wanted to have a family. I decided to take a break from the classroom and find something a tad more flexible. In 2010 I established “Believing in Little Miracles” as part of the “Fun Bus Fitness Fun on Wheels” fleet. Currently, I have 2 buses and 10 employees serving the best daycares and nursery schools in the area.

2013

Logan Joins the Family!

I became a mom to my favorite little boy, Logan. He’s incredibly adventurous, loves taking things apart and putting them back together, and his exuberance for life inspires everyone he meets!

2014

Payton & Paige Join the Family!

When I wanted to have a second child, I didn’t realize I’d get two-for-the-price-of-one! My twin girls, Payton and Paige, are the lights of my life. Although they’re identical, each is her own unique blend of sweet, silly, and smart.

2015

All roads lead to The Anne Brower School!

When I began looking to send Logan to the area’s best nursery school, absolutely everyone in the neighborhood raved about Anne Brower’s wonderful school. The choice was made! …And then much to my dismay, I learned that after 37 years the school was closing.

My inner teacher mode kicked in—I knew I had to do something! I contacted Anne, we came up with a plan to save the school, and the rest, as they say, is history!
