Health and Safety First: Our COVID-19 Policies and Procedures

We continuously monitor COVID-19 trends as they unfold, and will immediately implement any advice put forth by Governor Hochul in accordance with state and federal public health officials. Click here to access the latest updates from the Governor’s office.

Please be aware that COVID-19 vaccinations are now available for children 6 months and older. We strongly recommend that you vaccinate your child to protect them and our entire school community from infection. Click here for more information about getting your child vaccinated.

To protect all the members of our educational community, we have implemented an updated set of COVID-19 policies. In determining these protocols, we prioritized complying with the recommendations of the CDC, the New York State Department of Health, the Suffolk County Board of Health, and the Office of Children and Family Services. Additionally, we consulted our team of licensure experts as well as a designated healthcare consultant.

To maintain a healthy educational environment, it is critical that everyone consistently follow the health policies outlined below.

This policy framework requires flexibility, and we will revise it when necessary as the situation evolves. Though these policies were written for COVID-19 prevention, many of the strategies described below can help prevent the spread of other infectious diseases, such as influenza (flu), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and norovirus.

As always, it is important for all caregivers to be vigilantly monitoring for symptoms. Sick students and staff are required to stay at home.

For those of you with additional questions, please reach out to us at any time. I wish you good health, and, remember, we’re in this together. I look forward to working with all the members of our community to ensure our student’s health and successes in the year ahead.

Respectfully,

Lisa Marie George

Owner, Director

  • Active Symptoms

Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 should stay home for 5 days OR until they receive a negative COVID-19 test (whichever is first). Before returning to school, symptoms should be improving and you should be fever-free for at least 24 hours.

  • Symptoms Arising at School

Anyone who comes to school with COVID-19 symptoms or who develops symptoms while at school will be sent home and encouraged to get tested. Children and staff who develop symptoms at school, and who are able to wear a mask, should do so while still at the program. If your child develops symptoms while at school and they’re unable to wear a mask, we will separate them from the other children and stay with them until you or one of your emergency contacts can pick them up.

  • Testing Positive and Isolating

Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 should remain isolated at home for a period of at least 5 days. Before returning to school their symptoms should be improving and they should be fever-free for at least 24 hours.

  • After Testing Positive and Isolating

Anyone who tested positive for COVID-19 and is returning to program between days 5 and 10 should wear a well-fitting mask, up through day 10, if they are able to tolerate one. Alternatively, they may remove their mask following two negative COVID tests that are taken 48 hours apart. Children who are unable to wear a mask may still return to school if after a 5 day period of isolation if they are asymptomatic.

  • Known Contacts

Anyone who has had close contact with someone with COVID-19 (this means they were within six feet of someone with COVID-19 for more than 15 minutes in a 24-hour period) should wear a mask for 10 days whenever feasible. If they do not have symptoms, they do not need to quarantine and can attend school.
